Rob van Brakel Appointed Colortrac Marketing Manager

St Ives, England: 27th July 2010

Colortrac logo

Robert van Brakel has joined Colortrac's senior management as Marketing Manager. Colortrac's press release announcing Rob's appointment makes the claim that it is the "NEW" leader in large format scanners. (The emphasis is Colortrac's, not ours).

Presumably, one of Rob's first jobs will be to substantiate this claim. Colortrac has enjoyed growing success in the last two years, moving from regular also-ran to the position of front-runner in the sale of manufacturer-branded scanners. Crowning it all was the signing up of Xerox as an OEM.

He will provide global sales and marketing support. Rob will be based in Colortrac's Brunel Court head office in St Ives.

Aage Snorgaard appointed new CEO of Contex Group

Alleroed, Denmark: 15th July 2010

Contex logo

Aage Snorgaard has been appointed as the new CEO of Ratos's troubled subsidiary, the Contex Group A/S with effect from 1 October.

The ongoing recession has reduced Contex's turnover from an impressive high of USD $62.394m in 2006 to just $38.602m in 2009. (Source: Contex AS's accounts - 26/03/2010).

Aage Snorgaard

On the plus side, Kenneth Aaby Sachse, the acting CEO since September 2009, has restored the overall profitability of Contex, despite 20% less volumes, to pre-crisis levels. (This refers to the global economic crisis, NOT a crisis at Contex, as some suggest.)

Aage Snorgaard, 47, is a Bachelor of Science in Production Engineering from Copenhagen University College of Engineering and has a Diploma in Marketing from Copenhagen Business School. Over the past 20 years Aage Snorgaard has held leading positions in the telecom industry and other high-technology operations. He joins Contex from Nokia and the position of Senior Vice President - Mobile Phones R&D; responsible for global development of all Nokia Series 30 and Series 40 phones.

Aage will take up his position on 1 October 2010 as CEO of Contex Group and also head the subsidiary Contex A/S. Kenneth Aaby Sachse will return to his position as CFO of Contex Group. Aage has a mountain to climb. While Contex remain the world's largest manufacturer of large format scanners courtesy of their OEMs, HP and Oce, Contex's own brand is believed to have slipped behind Colortrac.

The Danish Contex Group has three operating areas: Contex A/S is the world's largest manufacturer of wide-format scanners, ZCorporation manufactures 3D printers, Vidar Systems Corporation manufactures products for medical imaging. Ratos's holding in Contex Group amounts to 99%.
