ANA Tech releases new SCANsmith VIEW 3.0 scanner support software.

Long a leading name in large document scanners, ANA Tech today released SCANsmith scanner support software tools, designed to "scan-enable" anyone who is capable of running a desktop computer with Windows operating system.

The first product under the SCANsmith banner is VIEW 3.0, a raster-only tool, operating with color and black and white raster data. This package is included with ANA Tech's line of Eagle scanners. For those scanning users wishing to purchase additional copies for their organizations, VIEW 3.0 will be available as a stand alone product as well.

This raster tool presents numerous high performance draw-and-edit functions for document restoration and quality enhancement. "Recent trips to customer sites, which were already involved in electronic document management projects, showed a need for a simple-to-use, yet robust, raster tool," explained Gerald Kasten, ANA Tech's director of marketing.

"The marketplace has many application-specific tools that perform some of these tasks within a vastly more complex package," continued Kasten. "VIEW 3.0 delivers a simple-to-use, Windows-based editing tool capable of working with both color and black and white data.

"Unique to this new editing tool is its ability to separate color classified files which makes it possible to edit each layer as if it were black and white. This is of growing importance in geograhical information applications."

Also featured in VIEW 3.0 is a warping capablity. Warping takes simple linear and non-linear data and removes geometric errors and distortion from the original scanned drawing and relates the data back to the known coordinate system, as established in a hybrid raster/vector CAD system, an easy way to make sure your scanned drawings or maps are accurate.

With VIEW 3.0 you can cut and paste large format scanned data into desktop publishing applications using Windows standard techniques. VIEW 3.0 is fully operational with Windows 3.1(R), Windows '95(R) and WindowsNT(R). Features include snap to grid, snap to raster, keyboard entry of coordinates for all commands and zoom window capability to allow for precise coordinate specification. SCANsmith VIEW 3.0 is currently available through ANA Tech's channels of distribution on a worldwide basis.
