Tangent Imaging Systems Large Format Scanning Systems A Big Hit at CeBit in Germany.

Tangent Imaging Systems(TM), a division of Scangraphics(R), Inc., (NASDAQ: SCNG), a world leader in large format scanning hardware and imaging software, disclosed today that is has received a commitment for ten (10) large format scanning systems from Sihl GmbH, Tangent's premier European reseller.

This order, which is valued at more than USD $300,000, is the largest single order received by Tangent in connection with an industry trade show. The order is in direct response to this year's interest in Tangent's solutions for large format scanning from CeBit attendees and marks the second year of the partnership between Sihl GmbH and Tangent Imaging Systems.

Tangent representatives arrived at CeBit in Hanover, Germany to support three business partners who chose Tangent's large format Sheetfeed scanner and Reproworks color matching software as key attractions in their booths during what is commonly called the World's Largest Computer Fair. In addition to supporting the international business partners, Tangent released two key product developments in which Sihl played an advisory role.

Sihl GmbH experienced enormous success in 1997 with sales reaching over $1.2 million in Tangent hardware and software into the European reprographic and service bureau markets. Sihl's decision to show both the Unix version of Tangent's color matching software and Reproworks, Tangents Windows NT version, further proves their continued confidence in Tangent system sales into the European market in 1998. Shacoh-Germany, their sub-distributor, chose Reproworks as their platform of choice and expressed their shared confidence with Sihl GmbH, that Tangent scanners and software solutions offer significant potential for their revenue growth during the coming year.

According to Werner Ciupka of Sihl, "Tangent Imaging Systems' solutions continue to be in high demand at CeBit. Tangent's continued efforts to remain a leader in the development of large format image capture and color reproduction products keep our customers demanding the Tangent name. Once again, their products have attracted an impressive audience and explains our commitment to the distribution of Tangent in the European market."

One of the two key product developments announced during CeBit was the introduction of a printer driver for Rastergraphics' 6-channel PP5000 printer. Through Sihl GmbH, Rastergraphics requested a Tangent scanner and Reproworks software to be placed in their booth and be interfaced with the PP5000 for live demonstrations. The addition of the PP5000 printer driver makes the Tangent system not only more versatile to end users, but answers the market demand for those users who want to integrate Tangent scanners with the high speed Rastergraphics printer.

Tangent Imaging Systems also announced the pre-release of Reproworks 2.0 to be available in May of 1998. Reproworks 2.0 maintains its user-friendly interface of the original release and will offer multiple printing and step and repeat, two features requested by Tangent's team of client advisors. Multiple Printing allows the user to print an image to up to 16 networked printers at one time. This increases productivity for those users who perform high volume printing and reprographic work for clients and require several printers to be active during continuous shifts.

The Step and Repeat feature responds to a user command to print more than one copy of an image to a printer. The software will determine how to arrange the copies on the selected media by reading the copy width and media width. As appropriate, the software will repeat the image across the media. Not only does this feature conserve paper by printing copies more efficiently it is another way to increase productivity by integrating the function into the software's intelligence.

Grif Griffin, President of Tangent Imaging Systems stated that, "Tangent Imaging Systems scanning systems attracted an incredible level of interest from the CeBit crowd and as always, we appreciated the support we've received from Sihl GmbH, Shacoh-Germany and Rastergraphics. During our time at CeBit, we had discussions with a number of potential large format scanner resellers who, when combined with our current wide format scanner reseller network, will significantly expand our reach into new large format scanner markets. We are proud to be so highly regarded as a business partner and Tangent will endeavor to serve our resellers with continued excellence."

CEO and President of Scangraphics, Larry Osterwise, "With new developments occurring every day, Tangent Imaging Systems continues to capture each new large format scanning opportunity that presents itself. This will surely be the year for unprecedented growth in Tangent's revenue and global recognition of Scangraphic's wide format scanning capabilities."
